We had our first informational meeting a few weeks ago on December 4th. Attendees enjoyed some snacks and fruitful discussion, and also provided much appreciated feedback regarding the organization of future meetings. We had a collection of graduate students and faculty--thanks to everyone who took the time to come out! I know several people who wanted to come had scheduling conflicts. If you wish to provide feedback but weren't able to attend this meeting, please email me (search my first and last name in Outlook and I should pop up!) and I'll forward an electronic copy to you.
I am in the process of compiling that data, and will be in touch later in December with a summary of those results and a Doodle poll to organize our first meeting of the Spring semester.
One idea that cropped up in this meeting was the possibility of making this group a "formal" chapter of a national organization such as WiSE (Women in Science and Engineering). I am looking into this! But, if it's something you're interested in, PLEASE check out the WiSE Campaign website for information about this organization.
